Bikes, Yarn, and Eyeglasses to be Collected

Organizations serving the Folsom community are teaming up to help local families in need at a Community Service Day donation drive on Saturday, September 16. Organizers will be collecting bicycles, eyeglasses, and yarn.

  • Bicycles for Children & Adults - Folsom State Prison will collect unwanted bicycles to refurbish. The bicycles are later donated to community members in need. (30+ refurbished bicycles will be delivered to Folsom families at the 2017 Community Service Day, thanks to a partnership between Folsom State Prison and the Folsom Police Department)
  • Glasses - The Folsom Host Lions Club will collect used eyeglasses for the Folsom Vision Project which provides glasses to those who cannot normally afford them.
  • Yarn - The Folsom Lake Lions Club will collect yarn to support the Hooks N Needles program at Folsom Prison, where inmates crochet and knit a variety of items such as caps, scarves, small blankets and toys.  The finished items are then donated to a number of charitable organizations.

Donation receipts for tax purposes will be provided. For more information about Community Service Day and the donation drive, call 916-351-3360.
