The Indian festival of Diwali or Deepavali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is traditionally celebrated with the use of California State Fire Marshal registered "Safe and Sane" fireworks. The use of approved fireworks in conjunction with this festival may occur through Sunday, October 22 at 9 p.m. in the City of Folsom.
Take part in the spooktacular family fun on Saturday, October 28,including Trunk-or-Treat, a pumpkin plunge, "toxic" water slide, costume contest, craft stations for pumpkin decorating and a screening of the animated movie, "Hotel Transylvania."
The Folsom Public Library is celebrating Teen Read Week, a national initiative of the American Library Association to encourage all teens to be regular readers and library users. The Library is using Teen Read Week to launch The Studio, a new series of creative arts programs for teens only.
Amateur photographers of all ages are encouraged to enter their photographs featuring the faces and places of Folsom. Capture images of life in Folsom using the five contest categories as your guideline, including the new category of cell phone photography. Entries are accepted October 16 through 27.
